Duma Tau Camp - Linyanti in Botswana
If you are looking for a safari camp with luxury appointments, which also provides a beautiful location for watching many of Africa’s most fascinating wildlife, then Duma Tau Camp is an ideal choice.
Duma Tau camp is situated on the 125,000-hectare Linyanti Game Reserve and it borders the western boundary of Chobe National Park, in northern Botswana. The camp is located near the confluence of the Savute Channel and Linyanti Waterway. Because the source of the Savuti Channel is close to the camp, game drives are one of its biggest attractions.
Opportunities for activities at Duma Tau Camp are as diverse as the wildlife that surrounds it. Guests can choose to view wildlife and game on nature walks, from the water, or in open 4x4 vehicles along the Savuti and Linyanti. Day or night game drives are available.
Elephants are one of the area’s biggest appeals, especially in the dry winter months when they congregate along the lagoons and waterways of the Savuti Channel. Visitors will be able to see red lechwe, zebra, wildebeest, impala, waterbuck, giraffe, baboon, warthog or crocodile, to name just a few! Predators such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, wild dogs and hyena can be seen during a game drive. Birding is also great here: slaty egret, whiterumped babblers and wattled cranes abound. There are a number of hides in the area, which give guests the chance to see animals close up, in their natural environment without disturbance.
While enjoying the diverse wildlife and game, guests can also enjoy the luxury of Duma Tau Camp itself. This 16-bed luxury tented camp is close enough to a hippo-filled lagoon that grunting hippos can be heard.
Luxuriously appointed and spacious rooms are raised from the ground and have thatched roofs with canvas walls. They are designed for maximum privacy, atmosphere and comfort. Bathroom facilities are en suite and have hot & cold running water, flush toilets and shower.
Each room has an additional open-air shower, for those who prefer to be closer to nature. Duma Tau Camp also has a dining room, pub, lounge and plunge pool; there is even a guest “loo” with a fantastic view.
Duma Tau Camp combines the best of both worlds: viewing African wildlife at its best, and staying in a luxurious camp with all of the luxuries a guest could need.
